How to Activate God’s Healing Power (Step by Step)

What the Bible Says about God’s Healing Power

The Bible reveals that healing of the physical body is completely God’s will. We know this because Jesus is the perfect manifestation of the Father, and He healed everyone who came to Him. God’s healing power is available for all Christians, we simply need to step out in faith and receive it.

Jesus is the perfect manifestation of God the Father. Jesus came to this earth to do many things, but one thing He did that many tend to overlook is He revealed who the Father is.

The Bible tells us that “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.(John 1:18)

In another place, the Bible says that God, “in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person (Hebrews 1:2-3).

As you can see, Jesus was the perfect revelation of God the Father. In other words, whatever Christ would do is whatever the Father would do, and vice versa.

So, how would Jesus handle sickness and disease?

Well, the Bible makes it very clear that whole multitudes of sick people were healed through His ministry. In fact, we never see one moment where Jesus denies an ill person healing. Not one.

“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.”

“Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.(Matthew 4:23-24)

“When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick(Matthew 8:16)

How many sick people does Jesus heal in these passages?

That’s right. All.

Every time we see Jesus encounter sick people, they get healed.

This is not only supposed to be in Jesus’ life but it is also supposed to be in every believer’s life as well.

“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

There are many amazing things in this passage of scripture, but let’s just focus on the healing part.

This passage of scripture reveals that the sign of healing will follow “those who believe.” If you are a believer in Jesus Christ you can heal the sick.

Notice the passage above doesn’t say, “they will lay hands on the sick, and some will get healed and some won’t get healed.” No, this passage reveals a 100% success rate of healing.

Jesus said, “they (believers) will lay hands on the sick, and they WILL recover.”

Just because there are times where healing doesn’t appear to happen, doesn’t mean we can throw out the Word of God to soothe our shortcomings. Jesus told us to go and heal the sick. He said that when we believe, they will be healed. Period.

Anything that is contrary to that truth is the same voice that deceived Eve in the garden of Eden.

Let’s not be so easily deceived, rather let’s be a people that are consumed with fulfilling God’s Word.

How do I activate God’s healing power? (step by step)

God’s healing power is activated by simple Bible faith. The moment we release faith is the moment healing will come, whether in our bodies or someone else’s. God’s healing power is available to all Christians. The Bible reveals that all believers are to go, preach the Gospel, and heal the sick.

Below are some simple steps that you can take to activate and receive this healing power. If you are someone who wants to simply step out and see God’s power these steps apply to you.

If you, however, are someone who needs healing you can skip to the bottom where I pray for the sick.

Step 1: You must be born again.

For you to see God’s power flow through you to touch someone else, you need to be born again. This is why Jesus said, “These signs will follow those who believe…they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

You can’t have this miraculous sign follow you if you aren’t a believer in Jesus Christ.

Now, if you are reading this article because you are someone who needs healing then you do not need to be born again. Jesus and the apostles healed many who were not believers. In fact, one purpose of healing is to draw unbelievers to God.

You can receive healing from God without any faith in Him at all, the only requirement for you is that you have to have someone who is a follower of Jesus pray in faith for your healing.

Step 2: You must be Baptized in the Holy Spirit

“John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now…But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:5&8)

It requires power to see people healed. Jesus was able to heal the sick because He was anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit. (Related article: Baptism in the Holy Spirit (In-Depth Study).

“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38)

The baptism in the Holy Spirit gives us the ability to heal the sick, but it doesn’t make it automatic. We have to learn to release God’s power through faith. This leads us to our next step.

Step 3: You must pray in faith for the sick to be healed

Faith is the releasing of God’s power. It is the currency that puts a draw on the ability of God.

The Bible makes it clear that the only way to see the sick healed is through the prayer of faith.

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.” (James 5:14-15)

Notice that the prayer of faith is what heals the sick, not the oil or the eleders. The elders are only there because often elders are more grown in their faith, and the oil is mentioned because it is meant to be an aid to assist our faith by giving us a picture of the Holy Spirit.

But the truth is that the prayer of faith is what heals the sick, and any believer can pray this type of prayer over someone else. It doesn’t require a super Christian.

“These signs will follow those who believe…they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

Even James goes onto explain this in the same chapter after he mentioned the prayer of faith.

“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.” (James 5:16-17)

Elijah was one of the greatest prophets in the Old Testament, but even he was just a man. Every miracle that he performed had nothing to do with his natural capabilities, but rather they happened because of his ability to believe in a supernatral God.

Step 4: Take risks

Finally, the last step is to take risks in your daily life. When you see someone at Walmart who is limping, or maybe they have crutches, go up to them and ask them if you can pray for them. (You’ll be surprised of how many people will let you).

When they say yes, gently place your hand on where the pain is. If it is not apropiate for you to place your hand on them then simply pray from a distance. Pray a simple 5 second pray, telling that pain and sickness to leave in the name of Jesus.

When you’re done, ask them to try something that they’ve been unable to do before you prayed. The reason this is important is because the Bible says that faith without works is dead (James 2:26). So, when you ask them to try to do something they couldn’t do before, you are putting action to your faith.

Make this a practice of your daily life. The more we go out and share the Gospel with people and pray for the sick, the more we will be fulfilling the mission of heaven.

How do you pray for healing?

You pray for healing by speaking to the sickness, in faith, and telling it to leave. When you speak, believe that you have your petition, and then you will have it. This is the way Jesus taught His disciples to pray for the sick, and it is the example laid out for us in the Bible.

“Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:19-20)

Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.(Mark 11:22-24)

Notice that in both of these passages Jesus tells His disciples that in order for them to see miracles and have their prayers answered, they will need to do a few things.

First, they must have faith in God. They must believe that when they pray, they will receive their petition the moment that they speak.

In other words, they must believe that they received their petition the moment that they pray, regardless if physical senses reveal otherwise.

“Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

This is exactly what Jesus did when He cursed the fig tree in this same chapter.

“When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. In response, Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again”…

Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.” (Mark 11:13-14 & 20-21)

This passage reveals that Jesus didn’t see the fig tree wither away immediately, but rather it took a whole day for the manifestation to come.

This shocked the disciples, but it didn’t faze Jesus because He already believed that it was going to happen the moment He spoke.

If we want to be a people who see God’s miraculous power then we need to learn to have faith the same way Jesus did. (Related articles: How to Grow in Faith, The Faith of the Centurion & How to Have it).

Second, they must speak to the mountain.

The mountain can be any problem that we are facing. It could be a sickness, a demon, or even a fig tree. Whatever it may be, the mountain is what we speak to. We release our faith by speaking to the mountain.

This is revealed time and time again throughout Jesus’ life and in the life of the early Church.

“Behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” (Matthew 8:2-3)

Notice Jesus didn’t ask the Father to cleanse him, instead, spoke to the problem and commanded the leprosy to be cleansed.

The early church ministered healing in the same way.

“Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

“And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God” (Acts 3:6-8)

“And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking.

“Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked.” (Acts 14:8-10)

You see, Jesus, Peter, and Paul all spoke to the mountain and commanded it to move, and if we want to see similar results then we must follow their example.

Prayer for healing

If you came to this article because you are needing to activate God’s healing power for your own physical body then this segment of the article is for you.

Activating God’s healing power is so simple it can really be explained through one word; faith. When faith is released, God’s power has to flow. If faith isn’t released then no power flows. It is a law that is more sure than the law of gravity.

So, how does this look practically for you?

Well, I am going to pray for you, in faith, believing that when you read the words on this screen God’s power is going to touch you and restore your physical body.

If you are a believer in Jesus, I encourage you to believe with me. Let’s pray.

Father, thank you that you have provided healing through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And that you have given your people a promise that when we pray for healing, we will see it come to pass. So, right now I speak to every sickness, disease, and physical incapability, and I tell it to leave in Jesus’ name. Everyone reading this, be healed in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank you Father for doing what you promised. Amen.

If you just read those words, I encourage you to check your body. Try something you couldn’t do before. If you couldn’t jump, try to jump. If you couldn’t touch your toes, try to touch your toes.

If your sickness is something that is more difficult to see right away then I want to encourage you to believe the word of God and trust that your sickness is gone.

The Bible says that, “Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:24). The believing that you received comes before the actual having. This is true biblical faith.
